THE MOTHERSHIP: 2050 is an inspiring documentary about a woman facing her own extinction and the extinction of the planet she so viscerally loves. Knowing she has only one year to live, Constance Adams–space architect, single mother, and punk rocker–begins to design a plan to save the Earth for her two daughters…and all of us.
ARTIST STATEMENT
NASA space architect Constance Adams was our college classmate. A single mother of two, she was also a genius who not only designed the habitation module for our eventual landing on Mars, but also produced dozens of crucial studies and papers on issues ranging from the environment to design and much in between. Two years ago, she called us and told us she was about to die. And that she would spend her remaining time figuring out how to help us survive climate change, which she determined will lead to mass extinction by 2050. That plan, The Mothership: 2050, was partially complete when she died last June. Before her death, she gave Rebecca extensive interviews and access to her papers, which have since been purchased by Yale University. She asked us to continue her work by bringing attention to the ideas contained in the Mothership. All profits from this film will go to Constance’s two daughters.
Sincerely,
Rebecca and Michael
